I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass is the eleventh full-length album by American indie rock band Yo La Tengo, released on September 12, 2006 by record label Matador. The title of the album is rumored to be a paraphrased quote by NBA player Tim Thomas. Sitting on the bench together during a game, Thomas was caught on tape by the MSG Network in a profane exchange with fellow Knick, point guard Stephon Marbury. Thomas yelled at Marbury, Everyone in this organization is afraid of you, but. Daphnia - Yo La Tengo. After the thematic and sonic consistency of their previous two major albums, I Am Not Afraid marks a return to the joyous eclecticism of 1997's I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One, though nearly ten years down the road Yo La Tengo sounds noticeably more confident in their embrace of different styles and less hesitant in their technique on this album. The sound is really quite good, zero complaints from me. I think it is a fine pressing. it sounds better than the CD copy I have, but you knew that. Antworten Mich bei Antworten benachrichtigen Helpful. Yo La Tengo have always sounded more in love with music than pretty much any indie band going, and they've let their diverse interests settle into a comfortable and productive place conducive to growing good songs. Everything they've done well in the past is found on here somewhere, even a couple of the gossamer mood pieces that previously threatened to smother their career like a damp wool blanket. But rather than sounding overstuffed, I Am Not Afraid of You. sounds like a double album in the 70s sense, a chance for the band to stretch out and try everything in their repertoire even if the end result is a little shaggy. Its official: Yo La Tengo suck at titling their albums, but they sure know how to make them. The New Jersey indie-rock trios latest is easily its best of the past decade or so - the kind of guitar-crazed masterpiece the band used to bang out every couple of years back in the Nineties. They begin and end the album with high-energy psychedelic guitar trances that break the ten-minute barrier without dragging for a second. Ira Kaplan retains his king-of-feedback crown in the epic groove monster The Story of Yo La Tango, which makes up for the lame joke of the misspelled title with glorious sq
