Theo Travis is well known on the British jazz scene for his 5 solo albums and his frequent touring with his quartet. He has played with Palle Mikkelborg, John Etheridge, Mervyn Africa, Lol Coxhill, Roger Beaujolais and Steve Lodder and has performed and recorded with such art rock and experimental artists as Anja Garbarek, Roger Eno, Hugh Hopper, Mick Karn, Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri ex-Japan, and Porcupine Tree. While 'View from the Edge' predates these musical explorations, it shows Theo Travis' early inclination towards experimentation, a determination to do things his own way and not follow the mainstream. Biomes latest release, which forms part of On The Edges View from The Edge project, sees the Manchester-based producer return to 140 BPM across three atmospheric and sub-heavy tracks. A1 Turn takes influence from the rolling techno-inspired sound pioneered by Martyn, Appleblim and Ramadanman in 2007, but updates this formula for 2016 adding heady atmospherics, razor-sharp drum programming and the kind of vocal samples that have become synonymous with this label. A2 Remembrance is a more introspective and low-slung affair, building tension throughout its five and a half minute duration
