I have a copy on which no title appears. There is only the label. I would have had to wait until discogs existed to know the title and the artist.
  • Kare
I've got a copy of this on transcluscent brown vinyl....I can't see that listed here on discogs. Anyone got any ideas?
  • Nenayally
It's just a manufacturing variation caused by the vinyl mixture used by some pressing plants, i.e. not intentional colouration
  • Dellevar
Did this really get released in 1993?? I'm sure it came out in 1992.
  • Angana
I've got a cassette I recorded on 15th Jan 1992 from Glasgow's legendary pirate radio station NHS (National House Service), they played a mix in which Cosmic Movement followed Galaxy by Carl Craig (BFC).
  • Tolrajas
Absolutely unreal compositional work on Cosmic Movement, WAY ahead of its time. The pad work and the exploratory orchestration are jaw dropping.

I played Star Dancer to a private party of posh 18-year olds one time. It was dubstep all night until then, which was fine but I'd rinsed out all my decent tunes. Whacked this on at 140 bpm it fitted like a dream. Not sure what they made of it, to be honest, but feel like I've done my bit for the furtherment of Detroit techno. Both tracks are straight out of the top drawer.

Keep pushing that limit! I love dubstep but I'm in my 40s so have heard a lot of different styles of music. So what I'm saying is, if the young dubsteppers didn't get it that night then I hope a few certain few who went home that night and suddenly realized what was going on appreciated it and went on to further themselves in sonic sounds from today and yesteryear!.. It's all good mate to share music even when a crowd don't get it! Peace..

Star Dancer has always reminded me of 'Stars' by Mr. Fingers. Some similarity? https://www.discogs.com/Mr-Fingers-Slam-Dance/master/5330
  • salivan
Without a shadow of a doubt the composition is very similar Larry Hearst’s the man
  • Ericaz
is it vice versa when you hear 'Stars' ? would be weird ,no?
  • Whitehammer
I'm coming (very) late to the label/artist. This is a MONSTER techno record. Fairly minimal but more than enough going on. One of my favorites from the label/artist & I've managed to pick up 5 or 6 of their tracks.
  • Naktilar
Star Dancer was way way way ahead of its time!
  • Fiarynara
I remember DJ Warlock playing this on a pirate radio station in 93 (Pulse or Chilling FM??) and being mezmerized by Star Dancer... Its minimal but funky with the acid basslines.. The synth lines are pretty amazing..Swirling up and up into space!... Dare I call this psychedelic (but not in that rubbish psy trance sub genre kind of way!!!)...
  • Coirad
Beautiful powerful tracks but progress your knowledge and they become slightly dated to my acid dreams. I will keep it for the time being:) No Leftovers :)
  • Uste
First heard Dave Angel play this out in 1992/3 and he killed it. Cracking tune and timeless.
  • Priotian
Cosmic Movement uses the beginning from track Sequential by Pete Namlook & DJ Criss.
  • Beydar
It could also be a preset on one of the Sequential Prophet synths that was used on both tracks. Stranger things have happened :)
  • Inertedub
I first heard stardancer played around 1993/4 in the annexe in cream, Liverpool. Never heard anything like it before (or since). Absolutely mind blowing at the time...When I hear it now I still get lost in this incredible sound. Essential record for anybody remotely turned on by electronic dance music.
  • Ballardana
First track I ever heard entering a real rave party in Gothenburg back in 93. It really put an imprint and change my life.
  • CONVERSE

  • Anicasalar
Why only give it 2 stars then? Surely it's a 5??
  • Oreavi
Wow! What a great EP! I remember Cosmic Movement from the Universe mix CD that I bought in 1993. It's such a beautiful ambient tune, apparently with some bangin' 909 moments as well, who knew? The flip, "Star Dancer" is a wonderful techno track with swirling synths which I first heard Mr. Clean play at NASA Rewind in the 2000s. I was wondering what this track was for a while, I just accidently stumbled across this page.
  • Xaluenk
ive got every tune on red planet. simply briliant series of trax.sex in zero gravity is my fave if i had to choose..real techno comes from detroit only.powerful!.5/5
  • Kearanny
When first listening to the A side "Cosmic Movement", your first notion is a more soft spoken song (although rather dark). As the song progresses, it moves into an acidic "rolling" baseline that makes use of the tb-303 in a far more creative way than is usually heard in songs of the time. "Stardancer" Begins as anything you may have listened to countless times. But in the usual Red Planet tradition, becomes something you've never heard before. Instead of being like many artist's and have the baseline dominate the entirety of the song, it is soon taken over by a far more complex rhythm. A fine addition to the Red Planet's legendary releases. If you're going to buy it, go to the makers instead of buying them second hand here. Peace...

I've been searching for months to find this track just stumbled across it on Youtube, this track along with a haunting vocal sample were used at the beginning of Pablo Gargano's set at Hellraiser 7 in Belfast and it makes a hell of an intro with a trancy build up and an acidy 303 break
  • Brol
Wow! Stardancer still rates as being in my top 5 techno records of all time. It starts with an excellent bassline, quickly followed by some of the best drum programming I have ever heard. Simple but effective. When the main hook kicks in it takes you to another place. Very spacey. You could well be on MARS.

Like This Track? Also Try "Trancesexual" By Pete The Lodger.....(Trust Me You'll Know It;-)

I Strongly Agree....It's The Standout Track On This E.P For Me Personally. It Really Is Something Else Even By Today's Standards....I Also Feel It's Aged Wonderfully. No Matter What Genre Your Playing You Can Still Blend This In Nicely End Of Set....:-)

Lost, Derrick May, 2002..5 or 6am, about that time of night when you can't tell if it's dry ice or cigarette smoke that's creating this haze the laser beams are cutting through. And you're not sure if it's whatever you've taken or the sleep deprivation that's keeping you standing. All of a sudden, you hear those chords that take you back into that world you entered when you first heard that track- and you're there. Then the acid line cuts in and drops, and you're off...Cosmic Movement...And Stardancer- sometimes I feel like it could lift me off the ground. This record is about as "essential" as it gets for fans of UR and Detroit music.
  • Seevinev
Cosmic Movement is a great tune that has a real sinister intro that creates a real cosmic feeling. This builds and builds til the kick comes in and then track turns into a full on dancefloor monster with a fat 303 bassline. But for me the real gem is STAR DANCER. This song just keeps teasing you. The track starts with a amazing bass sound, then the drums are added. From there it just keeps building until the main synth parts come in and then the track really takes off. For me it creates a feeling like your being spun round and round, but without feeling ill or falling over. And by the time you reach the last parts of the song you cannot help but go crazy . I can say that this is, in my opinion some of the best work to come out of the motor city. If you don't own this record i suggest you make it your next essential purchase.
  • Zeus Wooden
Cosmic Movement is an outstandingly unearthly beautiful tune. Listen to it (and all quality techno in my opinion) in the dark - I guarantee it will take you somewhere else! Stardancer - it builds, and builds , and builds , and builds , and builds .... Thank god for life on Mars!
