Album

Suicide: Alan Vega and Martin Rev is the second studio album by the American band Suicide. The album was produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars for Ze Records in 1980. Recorded in January 1980, Ocasek gave keyboardist Martin Rev new equipment to perform on while Alan Vega distanced himself from the album musically to concentrate on the vocals. Michael Zilkha of Ze pushed to give the album a more dance music oriented sound, hoping that disco musician Giorgio Moroder would produce the album. Track Listing - Disc 1. Suicides second studio album marked their first collaboration with Ric Ocasek from The Cars, who became their longtime producer for every record they published except for their last. Ric produced the album for no pay and gave keyboardist Martin Rev a better equipment to work with. Vocalist Alan Vega wasnt as involved in the instrumentals as in their previous album. He stayed away from the musical part of the record to concentrate on the lyrics and vocals. On their first effort in 1977 Suicide burst onto music in a shower of blood angry poly-rhythms mixing with Alan Vega's own brand of space rockabilly, to produce a maddeningly intense 40 minute listen that sounded like all the good things about life put in a centrifuge with all the bad things, with Elvis Presley in there for good mix. Suicides first two studio albums, Suicide1977 and Alan Vega Martin Rev 1980, dont try to capture the sonic chaos of their concerts. As Thurston Moore puts it in his notes to Superior Viaducts reissue of the former, the record sounded contained, not blasting and melting your skin off, but it was still amazing because the songs were amazing. Though Vega was trained as an artist and Rev studied piano with jazz greats, the two initially bonded over childhood love of doo-wop. That influence bubbles inside Revs three-chord riffs and Vegas chanted rock-myth narratives. Completa la tua Collezione su Suicide. The album was produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars for ZE Records.
