Album

Californication is the seventh studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was released on June 8, 1999, on Warner Bros. Records and was produced by Rick Rubin. Californication marked the return of John Frusciante, who had previously appeared on Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, to replace Dave Navarro as the band's guitarist. Californication is the band's seventh studio album. It was released in June 8, 1999, by Warner Bros. It was the first album with John Frusciante after returning to the band in 1998. This was an important album for the band, as it featured a more melodic and softer pop sound than their previous albums. Around the World - 3:58. Parallel Universe - 4:30. 50 видео Воспроизвести все Микс Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication B-Sides and. Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way. Many figured that the Red Hot Chili Peppers' days as undisputed alternative kings were numbered after their lackluster 1995 release One Hot Minute, but like the great phoenix rising from the ashes, this legendary and influential outfit returned back to greatness with 1999's Californication. Album 1999 15 Songs. The funk-fueled party rock that made their name slaps harder than ever on Around the World which features Flea's bass at its wiggliest and the furious Get On Top, but the group spends much of the LP looking inward. Californication is the seventh studio album by American alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on June 8, 1999 on Warner Bros. Produced by Rick Rubin, Californication marked the return of John Frusciante, who had previously appeared on Mother's Milk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, to replace Dave Navarro as the band's guitarist. Now, Californication sees the same players John Frusciante and Rick Rubin included from the that album return. As expected, it's considerably better than the bone- stupid One Hot Minute, but not quite as funky- assed as their acclaimed 1991 effort. But wait. Before we go any further, let's talk about Dave Navarro. Dave Navarro was a horrible fit for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Thankfully, he's off in some private velvet- paneled studio pouring hot wax on his nipples and applying mascara. Look up wannabe rockstar in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Da. Формируйте собственную коллекцию. The Red Hot Chili Peppers of the quadruple-platinum smash Blood Sugar Sex Magic are back - revitalized and reunited - with their first album in four years and perhaps their most anticipated album ever. Most importantly, Californication marks the homecoming of guitarist John Frusciante, a key ingredient in the group's most successful albums. His return signals the energized re-emergence of one of rock's premier emotional, powerful and exciting bands. Certified at 4 million units by the RIAA. 0 out of 5 stars Probably the best Chili Peppers album ever. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 7, 2016. Verified Purchase

I have this 2012 copy which I purchased off this site, is it normal that this version has the alternate outro for Easily? I thought that was only on un-mastered versions of the album. Heard it for the first time yesterday.
  • Peras
I can’t agree really with the positive feedback for this pressing. Surprisingly the first LP sounds not bad in places but especially the second LP sounds thin and compressed. Hard to believe the other pressings are even worse!
  • Rrd
Please confirm your copy has CB in the deadwax? The general consensus is that the Chris Bellman (CB) press is quite good...
  • SkroN
Anybody have a lyric sheet for this that they would be willing to sell?

I gave this a 5 star rating mostly because it does seem to be somewhat of a better edition than your regular cd, and while some aspects of it do sound better it is fairly inconsistent in my opinion, parallel universe doesnt sound as good as i'd like it to nor does it I Like Dirt and i think maybe 1 or 2 other songs that i dont care that much about, but the best songs are probably in very powerful form, that's why i would recommend this edition. As others have stated the vinyl material is probably virgin or very cared for since its extremely quite if u make sure it's clean (also that the other parameters of your turntable are calibrated accordingly). Though i would like to state as well that it sounds best with speakers, i felt that headphones didnt suit this edition well, my headphones picked more sibilance than i would say its normal, but i am wondering if it could be that my stylus is wearing out a bit, i will soon get a new one and will be able to test it again, still recommended in general specially if you can find it for 'cheap', say 20 dollars tops, less than that preferably.

Get this or the 99 US LE pressing, then throw away all the others in a shredder.Best this album has ever sounded.
  • Blackworm
If you are looking for / buying this make sure you check the dead-wax for "CB" (Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering) as there are lots of still sealed copies in stores using the original brick-walled 1999 "MK / HL" Optimal DMM metalwork.
  • LadyShlak
nomasfe10 hello, where I can check that info you said on a sealed copy? thanks Only the 2012 Chris Bellman remastered pressings will have a blue sticker saying "LIMITED EDITION 180 GRAM VINYL 2-DISC SET" on the shrinkwrap. To my knowledge, no other pressings have it.There are more detailed threads about this on the Steve Hoffman Music Forums.

  • Gavirgas
So I should sell my 1999 copy for big $$$ and get this? I never liked the sound of the 1999 press.
  • Elastic Skunk
It's uncanny how good it sounds compared to the other brickwalled releases
  • Akirg
I can't believe how quiet this pressing is. It sounds great.
  • Doath
Found this out of luck recently, and used it to replace a German pressing that I'd had previously. The difference is night and day between this issue and the previous LP issues.
  • Iraraeal
wow; yeah I 2nd Musicfreak98's comments:Superb pressing; amazing dynamics and completely silent!
  • Very Old Chap
Superb pressing. Great sound, nice dynamics and my copy is totally silent.
  • Iell
Man.. .this sounds great. Much better than the cd. Get it!
  • Pumpit
If you want a good sounding release of this album, grab a copy. Every other version can be thrown away without even looking back.
  • Qumen
Hands down, this is THE best sounding version of Californication on vinyl. Make no mistake about it.
  • Swiang
The 1999 US press sounds pretty lousy too. Brickwalled like the CD. Bought it at Tower Records in 1999 for 19.99. Wondering if the 2012 U.S. reissue (pressed in Germany) is better. I don't see any other U.S. vinyl versions listed that some comments suggest.
  • Uriel
jglembo Or you don't. This record was recorded analog but mixed in pro tools so an original is better how?The 2012 chris bellman cut is much better than the original Correction: recorded in analogue... and mixed to Pro Tools, albeit mixed BACK to 30ips analogue tape. There are two 1999 "originals": the infamous EU pressing which is cut from the brickwalled CD master, and the US pressing which is supposedly the only version cut direct from analogue sources. You're talking about the former aren't you? MEllODrOnE is clearly talking about the 1999 US, which was a limited release that now commands kingly prices.Generally, when people refer to the 1999 original and don't elaborate on which pressing it is, they talk about the EU version, because it's so ubiquitous (it's been in print for well over a decade), while the original US was printed in limited quantities and it commands a kingly price nowadays.

  • Aiata
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about, digital files used to remaster the 2012 reissue, the original US press is the best sounding pressing
  • Mave
This remaster is WAY better than the CD and the previous vinyl editions. There are a few changes to the mix of a few of the songs that may put some people off, but after several spins I think I prefer these versions... what I wonder is if the band had any input into this, or if these were just mistakenly added during the remixing, or mistakenly removed during the original mixing and restored here?I remember hearing a lot of these "added vocals" on the 'unmastered' version of Californication that leaked several years back, which also sounded better (less compressed) than the store-bought CD, had a completely different running order, and bonus tracks "Fat Dance" and "How Strong" included.Anyway, here are the changes I've noticed from the 'original' CD and this newly remastered vinyl:Californication - synth line added after intro like the version on "Greatest Hits."Easily - extra "eeeeasily/aaaaahh" vocals towards the end that are present on 'unmastered' version.Savior - extra "all in a hand" vocals that are present on 'unmastered' version.Right On Time - Count in at start removed.
  • Perius
Definitely better than the CD, but I agree that it's still far from the sonic fidelity of Blood Sugar Sex Magik or Stadium Arcadium (but that's a problem with the recording of the voice: at least the instruments in this edition DO sound alive and not squashed).
  • Ghile
This LP sound better than the CD (which is a real victim of loudness war, with snares and hi-hats which are nothing more than crackling noises.)Altough its better, it sounds like there's a plastic coffee cup over the microphone or the tweeter. Can't enjoy listening to it, Don't know if it's just my copy, or it's their idea of good music.
  • Tygralbine
Hasn't this also been remastered by Chris Bellman like the 2012 One Hot Minute Reissue (http://www.discogs.com/Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers-One-Hot-Minute/release/3643369)? If yes, there's some important information missing for this release.
  • OCARO
This is that version, mastered from 24/192 PCM files by CB @ BGM
  • Zorve
Like soadroxs said, the vinyl gets rid of the terrible clipping that was on the original CD pressing! That said, there a couple of odd changes to the mix. The outro to "Easily" now has Anthony Kiedis singing some harmony, which is distractingly high in the mix. I think there was one other odd change like that.I'd argue it's a toss-up: waaaaaaay better mastering, but they pissed all over the outro to "Easily," which is a focal point of the album.
  • Wat!?
This reissue sounds much better than the original CD and vinyl pressings released in 1999.
