Jim Hill - Official Video for What a Day That Will Be Live, available now Buy the full length DVDCD Homecoming Picnic' Hill as a young man studied to be a professional singer, even auditioning for the Metropolitan Opera, but thankfully for us and for the Kingdom of God he decided to dedicate his life to gospel music. In the 1940s, he started to both manage and sing tenor with the famed Golden Keys Quartet. In the early 1950's, he would write What a Day That Will Be. The story goes that his mother-in-law got gravely ill. The song was first presented by the Golden Keys Quartet and went on to be recorded by the Homeland Harmony Quartet. It would go on to become one of the most loved hymns in all of Southern Gospel music. The Golden Keys Quartet first presented it in public. Though it became one of their most requested songs to perform, it did not cause much stir until the 1970s. By 2000, it has become popular among churches and itinerant gospel singers. He was the first tenor and lead singer for the New Stamps Quartet in the 1960s. Their recording of Hills song, What a Day That Will Be became the highest selling album in the gospel community. He then moved to the Statesmen Quartet and made huge breaks, as well. In 2012, he won the Southern Gospel Music Award. In his late years, he became part of Bill Gaithers Homecoming. The following tracks will sound good when mixed with Jim Hill - What A Day That Will Be - Homecoming Picnic Album Version, because they have similar tempos, adjacent Camelot values, and complementary styles. Lillie Knauls, Babbie Mason, The Stamps Quartet, J. Sumner, Sue Dodge. Leave It There - Live At The Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Nashville, TN1996. The song was publicly presented by the Golden Keys Quartet where Jim sang as tenor. Soon it was recorded by the Homeland Harmony Quartet and became one of the most widely-performed hymnals in Southern Gospel Music. In 2012, Jim Hill was included into Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Dollywood. Felix Gibson 29 Mar 2019 09:02. Great score. All it takes to start playing this huge hymnal in less than a few hours if you have enough desire and motivation. Nothing in excess but the essentials. Thank you, very appreciated. Miranda Adams 28 Feb 2019 12:41. On my top 3 most inspiring hymn. As a songwriter, Hill's most famous contribution to the gospel repertoire is What a Day That Will Be, a number that has been covered by groups such as the Greater Vision and the Horizon Quartet. Country superstars the Oak Ridge Boys also recorded material by Hill on the group's gospel projects. Hill established both his ministry and his presence as a performer on the gospel circuit in the early '60s. He released the first recording under his own name, named after his most famous song, only at the outset of the new millennium. Hill worked with groups such as the Statesman Quartet, the Stamps Quartet, and the Golden Keys Quartet. Free sheet music preview of What A Day That Will Be for voice, piano or guitar by Jim Hill
